Breakdown Cover Articles
It's not a matter of when you break down, it's also where
Having car breakdown insurance sounds like a bit of a luxury to too many people. These are usually people who know best about a lot of things and feel that if their car should dare to breakdown, they will soon be able to get the car running even better than before with the aid of a lady's garter belt and some chewing gum.
It's only when their trusted automobile coughs and splutters to a halt, does the realisation creep in that having car breakdown service insurance wasn't such a bad idea after all, and begin to ask questions like "where do I sign?"
While it is always possible to join a car breakdown insurance scheme, it's always better to do it online rather when you are standing by the side of busy motorway with cars buzzing past. Because that's the major fact that all these people fail to grasp. It's not just a matter of when you break down, it's also where.
The UK road system is as good as it ever has been, meaning that we can get just about anywhere in the British Isles in comfort and relatively quickly.
Statistics clearly show that breakdowns will occur well outwith the radius of the car owner's home, and even sometimes on mainland Europe. So what happens if you suffer a car breakdown on a wet winter's day in Belgium? Either you better hope that your Flemish is good enough to make yourself understood to the garage you have spent four hours trying to contact, or that you have breakdown insurance, A quick call to your insurer will ensure that a mechanic who not only speaks you language, but doesn't want to rip you off will be there in a reasonable space of time to sort out your car problems and have you on your way.
Ironically, there are those who have been convinced that car breakdown insurance is indeed for them, but are still convinced that they know best. These are the people who, in order to keep the premiums down; have come to the conclusion that they are the only ones who are allowed to break down with the car, and not their partner and any children (who should be legally allowed to drive). So if, when and where the car does break down, and they are not driving, they are also not covered. Thankfully there are not too many of these people still driving around. However, if you happen to be one of them, think twice. It will be worth it.
