There are things you can never control
As all of us grow older, we start to realise that and life is indeed like a box of chocolates as Forrest Gump's mother used to always say.
What Mrs Gump was referring to cover a very broad spectrum but what she was trying to prepare young Forrest for there are things you can never control and where and when your car will break down is on that list.
In an ideal world, your car will never break down, or if it does it will be outside your house, or in the parking lot of a garage. However we don't live in an ideal world, and the law of averages will say that your car will more than likely conk out when you are far from home, in a wet winter's night.
That means that we always have to be prepared for the worst possible scenario, and hope for the best. Being prepared means finding yourself a serious, professional a roadside recovery service, so that if and when your car does let you down, you are ready to face the problem.
When the wheels stop turning on your car, when you don't want them to, instead of panicking and forcing yourself into the hands of a local breakdown service who might, or might not, be worth trusting, instead you call the breakdown service, whose number you always keep in your car. That will be so much easier, and you will be amazed how quickly a roadside repair crew will arrive, and how professional they will be in diagnosing your problem and finding a solution for it.
If the breakdown service are capable of solving the problem on the spot, which they mostly do, you will be on your way with hopefully the minimum of upheaval.
If the breakdown is more complicated yet still fixable, they will also send you packing, but on condition that your first stop is a vehicle repair shop of your choice. In your hand, you will have a written diagnosis of the problem to be handed on to the garage to let them know what they have to do to solve the problem, long term. If the car cannot be driven to be driven, no need to fear. Your car breakdown cover will tow your car to your local garage, where the repairs can be carried out.
As Mrs. Gump would have said "that was a bitter-sweet experience (chocolate), but it could have been much more sour."
