Breakdown Cover Articles
It's not the car you drive that matters
There is nothing better than the scent of a new car, the nylon covered seats, the shiny dashboard, the chrome and everything else that goes with it. People pay a lot of money for that feeling, and there are even some that have enough cash to change their car for a new one every two or three years, whenever their warranty runs out.
Having a car that is forever under warranty certainly must have its advantages, although it might be an expensive price to pay. However what many new car owners forget is that just because the car is new and shiny and covered by a long term parts and labour guarantee, doesn't mean that it won't break down.
As you can well imagine a new car breaking down can be a very traumatic experience and obviously the first thing that the owner will do is get on the phone to the main dealer and demand an explanation. Explanations very rarely if ever get a car started, so after tempers have been calmed the next and more logical step is try and diagnose what caused the problem and get the car rolling again.
As in most cases, cars, new or old, very rarely break down where you want them to, and the chances are that the newer the car is, the further away it will be from the dealer who sold it, and provides services for it. That means calling in the services of a roadside recovery services, something that the main dealers never offer. And that's why no matter what car you drive and how sparklingly new, technically advanced and powerful it may be, breakdown insurance should still be taken out to cover it.
The chances are that the roadside mechanic that will show up to have a look at the problem will need to talk to the main dealer to receive instructions and permission to tamper with the car, which, after all, is still under warranty, and even organise a recovery service to bring the car home for repair, but it will still be well worth the investment.
So new car owners be warned! That work of art you are proudly polishing might still let you down. Why take the chance of being stranded away from home. Spend a few extra pounds for the peace of mind that car breakdown insurance always brings. You know you are worth it.
