Instead of Reducing Cover, Look for Better Value
An RAC Report on Motoring has found that 15% of respondents had made recent reductions in their breakdown cover, while another 12% had cancelled their cover all together.
In the current economic climate, many people are looking for ways to save and reduce their expenses. By reducing or eliminating breakdown cover, these drivers appear to be saving between £45 and £57.
Unfortunately, the same report has also found that almost 1/3 of British drivers are also skipping regular car maintenance and taking longer between services. By servicing their cars less, these drivers appear to be saving an average of £127.
Taken together, this new economising may be putting drivers at risk. As the RAC report warns, those who service their vehicles less frequently, are at greater risk of suffering a breakdown. If that same driver has also economised on their breakdown cover, they will be paying a large amount for the towing or roadside repair.
As is stated in the report, “cutting back on servicing and breakdown cover . . . becomes a false economy and one the motorist will potentially live to regret.”
Instead, British Drivers looking to save money should search for better insurance policies that are more in tune with their needs.
By working with one provider and finding a comprehensive cover for all of your breakdown needs, you are more likely to save money, while stile remaining fully protected.
