Compare Car Breakdown Cover
There are so many car breakdown companies on the market today that it can be hard to differentiate one from another. Even though there are many comparison websites available these can often confuse the situation further by comparing too many companies and present you with too many cover options that can be taken out.
The first thing that you need to do is to decide what car breakdown cover options you want. This will mean analysing how you use your car both now and considering whether this will change in the future. Understanding your car needs will help you narrow down the list of requirements you will be looking for in a car breakdown service.
You will then need to consider the budget that you have available to spend and what type of company you are looking for to cover your needs. There will be a number of leading branded service providers that you can choose from or you could look for more independent providers if you feel they will suit your budget and needs better.
Below, we have briefly looked at some of the main car breakdown providers for you to help you decide what you may be looking for in their service and to see what types of service levels they aspire to both with their standard and additional extra options.
RAC – The RAC has basic cover starting from £28* but this is only for the most basic of cover. The RAC presents an easy to use online tool to allow you to choose the cover you require as it asks you to input your requirements, so you can clearly see how much any additional extras such as nationwide recovery and onward travel will cost you. The RAC has vast experience in car breakdown and has 114 years of motoring experience, they also claim to fix 4 out of 5 cars at the roadside and have more patrols per member than any other car breakdown company.
The AA – The AA again has basic cover starting from £28* but they also offer a standard set of packages that can be purchased from £69 up to £141*. The standard set of packages all come with the roadside and national cover but the more additional options you require such as at home cover and parts and garage bills the more expensive the cover. The AA again is hugely experienced in car breakdown recovery and rescue and attended over 3.5 million breakdowns last year repairing a car in under 30 minutes on average.
Green Flag – Green Flag appears to offer customers five different car breakdown cover options that vary in respects of the optional extras that they offer very much like the RAC and AA policies. However, they also state that they don’t charge any call-out charges and offer a messaging system to let family members know about your situation. Green Flag has 40 years’ experience in the car breakdown market offering 24/7 assistance, 365 days per year. The company has over 4.5 million customers and a national network of breakdown specialists to help get you back on the road.
Rescuemycar.com – Rescuemycar.com offers the cheapest breakdown cover starting at £19.75* however, to find out more information about the types of cover that are available you need to call the company or complete an online quote process. The company states that they are part of a leading breakdown specialist network with over 4,000 independent breakdown recovery experts. They also state that 70% of cars are fixed at the roadside and that their average response time is under 40 minutes.
When looking at these companies you will see that many offer the same types of services but you should also read the small print of their policy and see what their terms and conditions are. For example, how quickly do they guarantee to come out to you when you breakdown. It is also important to remember that you get what you pay for, so if you are worried about your car breaking down you should pay for the service that is going to give you the most peace of mind and ensure you are a happy motorist.
