Breakdown Cover Articles

If you’re planning a holiday or trip in the UK or to Europe and you are going by car then don’t forget to make sure your car has adequate car breakdown cover to ensure your plans aren’t ruined by unforeseen car problems.

Often motorists think that they need to be most vigilant regarding their cars in the cold winter months but this is not the case as summer can be just as hazardous for cars and car drivers.

It is therefore, important to take out a car breakdown cover plan that covers you throughout the year, so that you are covered for all eventualities and car recovery needs. If you haven’t got car breakdown cover then it is time to consider taking it out and there is no better time than now; especially if you are indeed planning a break away.

The main breakdown issue comes about if the weather is glorious and the sun is shining. If you are driving in this type of weather it will mean that your car can become unduly hot and if there is a traffic jam or slow traffic it will mean that your car will have ‘stop-start’ conditions put upon it. This can often lead to a car overheating and breaking down.

There are of course many actions which you can undertake to ensure that your car is in the best possible condition when you are taking a trip such as checking the:

  • Water levels in your car as well as the level of screen wash available
  • Oil level to ensure that it is topped up
  • Air filter to ensure that it will last if the weather is going to be hot
  • Tyre air pressure and tread to ensure that your car isn’t in danger of having a blow-out or puncture

It is also important to take spare water and oil when you are taking a long trip as it can come in very useful should your car start to overheat. Also, if you see that your car is starting to overheat then try putting on the heater to the hot setting and this will help your car radiator cool the water within it for a little longer.

However, having the knowledge and comfort of your car breakdown cover means that you can enjoy your holiday stress free and if your car does breakdown you will know that it isn’t a disaster and won’t ruin your holiday.
